

Osmond, Barbara (Powell), after a 4 year courageous battle with ovarian cancer and a lengthy battle with rheumatoid arthritis, Barb passed away peacefully in palliative care with her loving husband, daughters and sister by her side. Born July 7, 1947 in Bonavista, NL she was the daughter of the late Nora (Russell) and Hubert Powell. She is survived by her devoted husband Clyde of 47 years, daughter Karol Lynn (Trevor Vanalstine) of Elliot Lake ON, Kelly Lee (Mike Screaton) of Dartmouth and special grandson Shawn of Sudbury ON. Also sister Penny (Harry) Street, Spillars Cove, NL and seven loving nieces and one nephew. Brother and sister in law Larry and Jeanette Osmond, Grand Bank, NL. Predeceased by her parents, her sister Irene Etsell and brothers-in-law Wilf Etsell and John Rose. Barb enjoyed going to music jams with Clyde, and walking and square dancing. They were former members of the Star Dusters Square Dance Club where they made many lifelong friends. She also enjoyed summers at Aylesford Lake with her husband, her little Westie dog MacKenzie and friends. She was a retired employee of MT&T a company she loved and a lifetime member of the Telephone Pioneers. Barb fought her battle with determination and would like to thank her family, wonderful friends and neighbours, her doctors and staff for all their support while on her journey. Special thanks to her doctors and staff, Dr Howard Conter, Dr Arthur Zilbert, Dr Evelyn Sutton, and Oncologists and staff, Dr Bentley, Dr, Grimshaw, Dr Keiser and Dr Rittenburg and the Nova Scotia Cancer Clinic. Also special thanks to Rev. Jeanne Manning Stright and the congregation of St Paul’s United Church for all their support. Also thank you to seaside FM for their music provided over the years. Special thanks to staff at 5A in the VG. Donations in Barb’s memory may be made to the St. Pauls United Church in Spryfield, Ovarian Cancer Canada or the Arthritis Society, or an animal shelter of your choice. Visitations will be held in J A Snow Funeral Home on Friday, May 31 from 2-4 and 7-9. A celebration of Barb’s life will be at St Pauls United Church on Sat June 1 at 2 pm..
