With heavy hearts, the family of Barry James Heath announce the passing of a wonderful husband, son, brother, stepfather, uncle, and great uncle. His loving soul and gentle way will be forever missed. Barry leaves behind his husband, Brian Butt, mother Ruth Heath, sister Marla Johnson (Jim), nephews, Mickey Johnson, and Heath Johnson (Megan Richard), great nephew Taran Johnson whom he adored, stepdaughters Jessica Snell (Matt), Keliegh Butt, and stepson Jonathon Butt (Jessica), and step grandchildren Harrison, Eli, and Sloan Butt. Also left behind were Barry’s many friends that loved him dearly and with whom he enjoyed many vacations, social gatherings, and celebrations. Barry was predeceased by his father, James (Jim) Heath, maternal grandparents William and Margaret Matchett, paternal grandparents Charles and Emma Heath and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Barry was a 1975 graduate of Harrison Trimble High School. He was born and raised in Moncton but lived the majority of his life in Halifax.
His career was in the hospitality industry and worked at the Halifax Convention Center for many years and, during the pandemic, worked at Sobeys Tantallon. Barry was loved and respected by all who knew him. He brought his own special light to the world. He married the love of his life, Brian on Oct.29.2022 in a beautiful, and sincere loving ceremony at their home in Timberlea. Our family is forever thankful that these two found love and friendship with each other and that Barry had the chance to live such a happy and fulfilled life with Brian.
