

Born in North Brookfield, NS, he was the son of Harry Kitchener Fancy and Violet Pearl Fancy (Wamboldt).
After moving to Halifax in the late 50’s, he started his business in 1961 with a single dump truck. Later, he became a successful contractor in the Halifax area. Bernie had a passion for animals, such as oxen which had won many regional competitions. He also loved gardening and trout fishing.
Survived by his wife, Claire (Power); daughter, Sue (Maclellan), Williamswood; sons, Sam, Goodwood, NS, Bill, Lakeside; sisters, Vivian (Mackay), Freda (Holdright), Judy (Mansfield), Janet (Martin); brothers, Lewis, Jack; 3 grandchildren, Josh, Mary, Andy and 2 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy Elizabeth Fancy (Manthorne) after 40 years of marriage.
Visitation will be held at J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax (455-0531) on Monday, May 12, from 1-4 pm and 6-9 pm. Family burial to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Windsor Elms Village.

The family would like to owe special thanks to the wonderful staff, volunteers and residents at Windsor Elms. Their care, support, and compassion made Bernie’s stay very comfortable and his family is truly appreciative. He felt like it was his home.
