

Bessie “Betty” Brewster – 93 of Halifax passed away August 18, 2017, at Parkstone Enhanced Care. Born in Murray Harbour, PEI. She was the daughter of Samuel and Bessie Prowse. Betty worked at Sears in Saint John, NB for many years. She loved all types of hand crafts – embroidery, cross stitch as well as being a Creative Circle Representative. She was an active member of Full Gospel Assembly in Saint John, enjoying Women’s Ministries, teaching Sunday School and working with the kitchen staff for many, many years. In 1988 she moved to Halifax to be closer to family where she continued her hobbies and met new friends at Faith Tabernacle. She spent many winters in Daytona Beach near family and her summers in Halifax.
Betty is survived by her Daughter Bonnie (Bob) Spinney, Sons Rev. Raymond (Becky) and Rev. Richard (Keven) Brewster and sister Florence; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Betty is predeceased by her husband Arnold Brewster, son Eric (Judy), sisters; Hazel, Audrey and daughter-in-law Debbie.
Visitation for Betty will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, from 6-8 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at 2 p.m. with Rev. John Cheyne officiating, both from J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive. Burial will take place in Cedar Hill Greenwood Cemetery, Saint John, NB.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer/Dementia Society of Nova Scotia or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
The family would like to thank the Staff of Parkstone Enhanced Care, Point Pleasant Way for the fabulous care given to our mom over the past twelve and a half years. She was treated and cared for as if she was their own loved one.
A very special thank you to the ones who have been with her from the beginning – she has now reached her eternal home.
