The family of Bryson Allan Wilson is deeply saddened to announce his passing on Tuesday, September 2nd, 2025. Bryson passed peacefully at his home in Leminster, Nova Scotia, surrounded by his loving family.
Bryson was born at the Halifax Infirmary on April 10th, 1956 to Allan and Alice (Sally) Wilson (née Emeneau). He is survived by his three daughters, Shannon Wilson (Michaël Caron), Lindsay (Jeff) Powers, and Allison (Mark) Marryatt; brother Blair (Geraldine) Wilson, sister Danette (John) Williams; nieces and nephews; the mother of his daughters, Catherine Wilson (née Matchem); and most importantly, his pride and joy, his only granddaughter Magnolia Marryatt.
Bryson grew up and was educated in Spryfield, Nova Scotia and graduated from J.L. Ilsley High School in 1974. He played sports in Spryfield Little League and Minor Hockey Associations, also refereeing and coaching in Minor Hockey in his adolescence and young adult life. In 1978 he graduated from Halifax Regional Vocational School with a diploma in Architectural Drafting. After graduating, he accepted a position with Nova Scotia Power Corporation, from 1978 to 1981. Bryson was a loyal member of the Spryfield Lions Club for 20 years, serving from Director to President, most distinguished by his role as President, opening the Spryfield Wave Pool in 1986.
Bryson began his career with the Halifax Fire Department on July 1st, 1981 and served proudly in the ranks of Firefighter, Lieutenant, Captain, Divisional Chief of Safety & Fire Prevention, Platoon Chief, and retiring as Division Commander in late March 2016, after 35 years of devoted service. He took exceptional pride and enjoyed every day that he went to work. Two years into his retirement saw him beginning his brave battle with colorectal and lung cancer.
Bryson was a committed father, hobby carpenter, and avid landscaper. He enjoyed countless summers at his family cottage at Cockscomb Lake boating, swimming and being the resident handyman.
Bryson leaves behind a legacy of hard work, discipline and devotion. The last 3 years at Knotty Pines Farm gave him a new lease on life and the time he spent with his darling granddaughter Magnolia, the light of his life, will never be forgotten.
There are no words that can express our gratitude for the care and support of Dad’s continuing care team: Mo, Tej and Robert; there couldn’t have been more compassion and respect for our dad, and we are eternally grateful. We would also like to thank the nursing and support staff on Unit 200 at the Hants Community Hospital.
Visitation will be held at J.A. Snow Funeral Home at 339 Lacewood Drive on Wednesday, September 17th from 2-4pm, and 6-9pm. Funeral service will be held at Stella Maris Parish (formerly St. Michael's Parish) at 6 St. Michael's Avenue on Thursday, September 18th at 11am, with reception to follow, and burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
