It is with heartfelt sadness and broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Calvin Edgar Patterson at the age of 76. He passed on September 1, 2022 at the QE II Victoria General Hospital.
Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Ruby and Edgar Patterson. Calvin was a loving husband, father and grandfather, his family meant the world to him. He was married to the love of his life, Therise for 54 years and together they raised their children, Therasa and Calvin Jr. His pride and joy was his only grandson, Jack. From the time Jack could talk he affectionately referred to Calvin as “Ga” A proud grandfather, he never missed a baseball or hockey game.
He worked for 46 years as a plumbing and heating specialist, retiring in 2011. He was very well respected in this field. When Calvin wasn’t working he loved to hunt, fish and spend time at the camp, “Shady Rest.” He and Therise also loved to go out to eat and spend time together.
The last few months were a struggle for him and he fought hard, but always had a smile on his face and remained positive. He loved to joke with the nurses and always made sure he thanked them. Until the end he was selfless, always asking how his family was doing despite the hardships that he was enduring. The first question every day was always “How’s Mom?” Calvin was a sweet, kind, loving gentleman whose smile could light up any room. Anyone who knew him loved him. We are so very proud of him, he is our hero.
Left with fond and loving memories are his wife, Therise (Pottie); daughter, Therasa Berrigan; son, Calvin Jr.; grandson, Jack Berrigan; as well as a large circle of relatives and friends.
A celebration of Calvin’s life will be held at 2pm Wednesday September 7, 2022 at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive. A reception will follow. Burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the nurses and doctors of both 7.4 and 9B for the incredible care and kindness they provided.
