Charlton (nee LeBlanc), Camilla Alice. It is with great sadness that the family of Donald (Chick) Charlton announces the passing of our beloved wife and mother Camilla on Friday, March 12th, after a five year struggle with cancer. Mom was born in Moncton, NB on August 4th, 1926. After World War Two she fell in love with a handsome young hockey player from Halifax by the name of Chick Charlton, who at the time was a key player for the Moncton Hawks. Married in 1948, Dad and Mom moved to Halifax in 1949 and started their family. By 1955 four children occupied their home and their lives. Mom returned to work in the early 1960s to help support the family retiring from the Nova Scotia Department of Transportation - Motor Vehicle Registration in 1985. Mom was a devoted and loving mother, wife, grandmother and great grandmother who constantly strove to provide the best for her family. She was always actively involved in community and church events whether in Halifax, Moncton, Saint John or Pugwash, volunteering countless hours over the years. Mom was tremendously proud of her Acadian heritage. At various times in her life she was a curler and a golfer, but her real passion was knitting and crocheting. Mom probably used enough material to circle the country a hundred times. Many charities and those less fortunate benefited from her generosity. In retirement, Mom and Dad spent their winters in Panama City Beach, Florida with their Snowbird buddies (and The Grannies) and summers in Pugwash, NS. Visits and stays by the kids, the grandkids, the great grand kids, and other members of the family and friends was the ultimate. Mom and Dad returned to Halifax in 2006. Mom was predeceased by her parents Camille and Amanda LeBlanc and her brother Paul LeBlanc and sister-in-law Stella. She is survived by her loving husband Donald (Chick), daughter Karen (Al) Evans, Green Road, NB, sons Daniel, Toronto, ON, and Patrick (Beverly), Tantallon, NS, daughter Denise (Peter) Wolfe, Halifax, grandchildren Mari (Peter) Bezanson, Fall River, Scot (Meegan) Evans, Makkovik, NL, Mitchell Wolfe, Halifax, and great grand children Ella and Evan Bezanson, Fall River, and Connor Evans, Makkovik, NL. She is also survived by her sister Leatrice (Paul) LeBlanc, Moncton, and brother Lawrence (Elsie) LeBlanc, Oakville, ON. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 18th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the new Snow's Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. A Celebration of Life mass will be held at 1030 am on Friday, March 19th at Saint Lawrence RC Church, Dutch Village Road, Halifax. Reception to follow in the church hall. Family flowers only please. Donations may be made to a charity of choice or to the Canadian Cancer Society. The Family extends sincere and heartfelt thanks to Dr. Bruce Silburt (Family Doctor), the staff at Parkland Clayton Park, and especially to the VG Palliative Care Unit (7A) for your tremendous support and compassion.
