He was born on October 29, 1944 in Halifax to the late Phyillis and George Carlton. He was a dedicated husband to his wife Diane for 59 years, and a loving father to Kelly, Cory and Christopher.
In his younger years he was an avid baseball and hockey player; excelling as a catcher and a goalie. He spent much of his time playing and enjoying music, dancing and was always the life of a party. He was a long-haul truck driver most of his career and retired from the Department of Transportation as a snow plow operator. What he enjoyed most was his time spent on Hatchet Lake, whether it was swimming, skating, snowmobiling or boating with his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Diane Carlton (Boutilier); his children, Kelly (Bernard), Cory (Heatheranne) and Christopher; his grandchildren, Jessica (Matthew), Gillian, Spencer, Matthew, Justin, Kyle, Renee, Ethan and Emily; great-granddaughter, Harper; brothers, Ronnie and Dougie; sister, Jean and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Joan and Shirley; brother, Earl and in-laws, Gerald and Ruth Boutilier.
A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Harris Crooks for over 40 years of care and friendship. The family also wishes to extend their gratitude to the Renal Dialysis Unit at the QEII, VON and the medical team of 7.2 for their exceptional support.
