

We are sad to announce the passing of our beloved mother, Caroline Phillips of Halifax who passed away peacefully at Haliburton Place, Windsor, July 4, 2019. Mother was 96 at the time of her death.
Caroline was the daughter of the late Leslie and Gertrude Canty (Yarmouth). She was born in St. John, NB and moved to Yarmouth as a child. She was the wife of the late Dr. H. Ralph Phillips.
Mom loved to laugh. She loved her summers at the cottage in PEI and lived most of her adult life in Mason’s Pt., St. Margaret’s Bay. She loved watching the Bay, the boats and Gordie the Groundhog. Mom had a passion for cooking and could make the most amazing meals. She loved to feed her family. Mom loved all our family time at the Bay. She always made every visit a joy. Mom had a wonderful life!
Mother is survived by her daughter Sharon (Jim) Davis, Bridgewater and her son, William (Bill) (Shirley) Phillips, Halifax; her brother, Bill Canty, Middleton; son-in-law, Stephen Fry, Calgary. She also leaves behind grandchildren Christopher (Maddy)Fry, Calgary; Catherine (Evan) Paterson, Calgary; Victoria (Jonathan) Hill, Sydney, Australia; Andrew (Erica) Phillips, Halifax; Matthew (Katie)Phillips, Halifax, Jennifer Leslie (Myron) Bridgewater, Craig Davis, Moncton and Laura Davis and partner, Dominic Carroll, Halifax. Great grandchildren Hailey McCulley, Jacob and Oliver Fry, Alexander, Daniel, Anna Paterson, Emily and Madison Phillips, Ryan and Julia Phillips and Taylor Leslie. Sisters-in-law Edna MacGregor , Virginia Phillips and Caroline Ross.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Dr. H. Ralph Phillips, her daughter, Karen Fry and her brother, Flt.Sgt. Malcolm Canty.
The family would like to thank all the staff at the Caritas Residence for all the love and kindness shown to mother. We would especially like to thank Dr. Iona Wile and all the wonderful staff at Haliburton Place. You are all angels in our eyes. Thank you to her dear friend, Mary Hebb for always being there for her.
A service of Remembrance will be held at the Caritas Residence, 215 Seton Rd., above MSVU, Friday, July 12, 2019 at 2:30 pm. Interment will be private at a later date.
