

GREIG, Charles Alfred – 83, of Halifax passed away peacefully at home on February 3, 2011 with no regrets and having loved life. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Charles Sr. and Catherine (Sutherland) Greig. He will be greatly missed by his many loving family and friends, including his daughter Heather Wood, son-in-law Bruce, grand-daughter Stephanie (Andrew Harding) and sister Cam MacPhee. Charles was predeceased by his loving wife and best friend of 54 years, Iris (nee Coolen) and siblings Florence, James, Eva and Jessie. From 1946-1951 Charles served with the Royal Canadian Air Force as a fire fighter. Then, from 1951-1987 he continued to serve his community as a constable with the Halifax Police Department. In 1967, he received a special commendation from the Halifax Police Department for outstanding police service. Visitation will be held at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax (902) 455-0531 on Monday, February 7th from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday, February 8th from 2-4 p.m. A celebration of his life will take place Tuesday night in the funeral home at 7:00 p.m. Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 10th in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville.
