

Charlotte Myhre was the only daughter of the late Herman and Else Akerlund. She was born November 21, 1918 in Halifax. She attended Halifax schools and graduated from Mt. St. Vincent Academy. Later as an adult she attended Mt. St. Vincent University; St. Mary’s University and obtained a PR diploma from Kings College.
Always active in local affairs she held a Life Membership in her IODE having been a member for more than 60 years. ElderLearners was another interest and she enjoyed her association with that organization having served as President. She held membership in numerous organizations which were important to her way of life, N.S. Art Gallery, Heritage Trust of Nova Scotia, Halifax Field Naturalists and the Cole Harbor Heritage Society. Charlotte was a long time member of the staff of the Nova Scotia Museum and following her retirement continued to work there as a Volunteer. Charlotte was a lady of great determination and character. She was predeceased by her husband Roy and brother Norwood “Akie” Akerlund (Mary). Charlotte is survived by her son Eric (Christina) and grandchildren, Erik (Ashley), Douglas (Samantha), Kristiana (Tim). and great grandchildren Braxton and Jaida. Also nephew Donald (the late Sue Akerlund) and niece Janet (Clive), she will be sadly missed by many friends. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at the Universalist Unitarian Church, 5500 Inglis Street, Halifax, Thursday, August 5, 2010 at 2pm. Interment will take place at Fairview Lawn Cemetery.
