

We announce with great sorrow the death of Christopher Michael Thomas, age 49 of Terence Bay, Halifax, NS., passed away on August 19,2014, at the VG Hospital. Chris was born in Halifax, NS in 1964 and was the youngest of three children of Wayne and Mary (Oickle) Thomas. Chris worked for the Government of Canada for 26 years at the DND Dockyards in Halifax. He was a member of the One Union Painters and Allied Trades. He completed various trades and courses throughout his career. Everyone who was blessed to know Chris knew how he appreciated the outdoors. Some of his most cherished times were spent in camping, hunting, boating, and fishing. He enjoyed playing poker with his best friend, Doug and the boys from his paint shop. Chris has a passion for travelling and played a variety of musical instruments. Chris valued life and believed telling jokes and laughter with family and his many friends made his life good. He is survived by his loving wife, best friend, and partner of 24 years, Carrie; daughter, Amanda (Ryan); son, Justin (Amy); grandsons, Noah and Isaac; granddaughter, Lilee; parents, Wayne and Mary; sister, Cheryl (Paul); nieces, Jillian, Roseann (God-child) and Abigail (God-Child); nephew, Brayden. Also his best furry friend, Morgan. He was predeceased by his oldest sister, Tonya Darlene Thomas and grandparents, Amos (Tom) Thomas, Alice (Jollimore) Thomas and Emery Oickle, Fannie (Johnson) Oickle. Chris was our family’s gift. To Chris, his family meant everything. By example he showed us unwavering love and loyalty. Chris was a supportive and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. Simply irreplaceable!
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to J.A Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, (455-0531) where visitation will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2014 from 2 -4 and 6 – 8 pm. A celebration of Chris’s life will be held on in the Snow’s Memorial Chapel Monday, August 25, 2014 at 11:00am with a reception to follow. Interment to take place at a later date. Donations in Chris’s memory may be made to your local SPCA. Chris fought a very brave fight during his illness and the family would like to thank the various doctors and nurses at the VG Hospital.
