
COLLINS, Claude Collier - 80, Halifax, passed away May 4, 2011 at Cedarstone enhanced care, Truro, N. S. Surrounded by his loving family. Born in Halifax he was the son of the late Edward and Jessica Collins. Claude was a well known Chef throughout his life beginning his career at Mount Saint Vincent University, where he befriended many Sisters of Charity. He later worked for Major Foods Ltd and finally with Cara foods and on the oil rigs. He had a passion for cooking and entertaining at his home always opening the door for friends and family hosting many parties. His famous Birthday cakes for his daughters will never be forgotten. Everyone who knew Claude or worked with Claude loved his carefree spirit. Claude was a devoted Catholic and a long standing member of the forth degree Knights of Columbus, he loved to bowl, curl, play pool and offer anyone a chance to beat him at his favorite game “Shut the Box”. Predeceased by his first wife Helen Collins (Compagnon) Survived by his second wife Helen Dewolfe (Truro), two daughters Lori Huskins (Micheal) Gail daSilva (Durward), three grandchildren Laura, Megan, and Mark. Visitation will be held 6 - 8 pm Sunday, May 8 at J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. A funeral mass will take place 10:30 am Monday, May 9 at Saint Benedict Parish, 45 Radcliffe Drive, Halifax. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville.
