

SCHAEFER, Clive Edward – 89, passed away peacefully at Parkland Estates, Halifax on August 12, 2012. Born in Halifax, he was the son of Edward and Evelyn Schaefer. He was predeceased by his wife Mary in 2004 and his sister, Rosamund. He is survived by his step-children Richard (Mississauga), John (Lower Sackville) and Sharon (Mahone Bay), Thomas, as well as eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who will miss him dearly. Clive was a well-known veteran broadcaster “on the air” at CHNS for many years. He was a life-long musician, playing drums and trombone with local bands such as Pete Power’s Orchestra and most recently, the Tuesday Night Band. He and his wife, Mary formed a popular singing quartet in the late 50’s called the Debonairs. They were also active and dedicated members of the Theatre Arts Guild in it’s earlier years. Clive was a fixture in the tennis community both as an enthusiastic player and an official, and he leaves his legacy with an award he established in his name. He was also a faithful Red Cross blood donor for most of his life. Clive’s willingness to give freely of his time and abilities to numerous volunteer efforts including Voice Print, is extraordinary and his contributions to our community will be felt and appreciated by many for years to come. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax (902) 455-0531 where visitation will take place on Sunday, August 19th from 7-9pm followed by a memorial service on Monday, August 20th at 10am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Red Cross would be greatly appreciated.
