Colleen Patricia Handley

Colleen, daughter of John and Kathleen Handley has passed away, in the company of members of her loving family on Wednesday the 29th day of August, 2018, after a 4 year battle with cancer.

She is survived by her beloved daughter Tara Cranston, her partner Peter McInroy, sister Lynne Dort (Gary), brothers Jon, Paul (Sue) and David Handley (Mary Ellen) along with many nieces and nephews. Colleen was predeceased by her parents and her twin sister Carol Monsen.

Colleen was born in Halifax in December, 1946 and grew up in the North End. She became an active business woman in Halifax and many of her clients became her cherished friends, and Colleen treasured those relationships.

She was fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel to many places around the world as well as to enjoy special trips with her beautiful daughter and her vacations in Florida with Peter.

Colleen loved and was truly loved, and her death will leave a void in the hearts of all whose lives she touched.

Special thanks to the Oncology department at the Dickson Centre as well as the nursing and support staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the VG hospital. It was also Colleen’s wish to thank Accupuncturist Dr. Min Chen for her assistance with her health issues over the past 3 years.

A service will be held on Tuesday, September 4th, 2018 at 11:00 am at J. A. Snow Funeral Home on Lacewood Drive, Halifax. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation earmarked for the “Handley Memorial Bench” to The Friends of the Public Gardens Society.
