Born September 17, 1930 to Abel and Sarah Conrad, in St. Thomas, Ontario, Connie grew up in St. Thomas with her brothers, Curtis, Calvin, and Cameron, who predeceased her, and her sister, Carol. Many summers were spent with her father’s family in Hubbards, Nova Scotia. In 1951 she met, and soon married, RCAF pilot Donald Enman, her devoted husband of 67 years. Connie welcomed life as an air force spouse, taking advantage of military postings in different parts of Europe and Canada to travel, explore and experience what those places had to offer geographically and culturally. Her vivacious personality and madcap sense of humor ensured that she made friends wherever she went, and she maintained those friendships, some at great distances, into her later years. After Don retired from military service and they settled in Hubbards, Connie joined him as a realtor with Royal LePage in Halifax where she won numerous awards as a top sales agent. Art lessons in her 20s bore fruit over time as she became a gifted artist whose paintings were cherished by family and friends, and were eagerly welcomed as donations to annual IWK Kermesse fundraisers.
Above all else, Connie was proud and fiercely supportive of her children: Jim (Ann) Enman, Halifax; Kelly (Bob) Becker, LaHave; Cathy (Paul) Cosham, Bridgewater; Carole (Charles) Chittick, Wolfville; and her grandchildren: Charles Morash; Duncan Enman; Angela Enman; Curtis Enman; Lucas Enman; Eric Becker; Adam Becker; Emma Becker; Laura Cosham; Jessica Cosham; Reid Chittick; and James Chittick. She stressed the value of education to them and supported their academic pursuits.
There will be no visitation. A celebration of life service will be held at First Baptist Church Halifax, 1300 Oxford Street, on Friday March 1st at 2 pm, with reception to follow. Internment will take place in Hubbards at a future date. The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to all staff on the sixth floor at Northwood Manor who helped care for Connie, as the final two years of her life were happy ones. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Connie to the Northwood Foundation (https://northwoodfoundation.ca/waystogive/memorial/) would be appreciated.
