Born in Alcala, Pangasinan, Philippines, he was the son of the late Jose Lazo and Lucia Banot. Constantino moved to Canada in 1978 and dedicated over 30 years of service to the Scotiabank Data Centre. A vibrant member of the local Filipino community, he cherished social gatherings and was a familiar, friendly face at the Halifax Shopping Centre food court. On weekends, he could often be found enjoying Bingo with friends.
In recent years, Constantino found a renewed sense of purpose through his grandchildren, Lola and Mateo. As their "number one fan," he was always there to cheer them on in everything they did. Known for his incredible green thumb, he took great pride in tending to his "jungle" of indoor plants and loved spending summer days gardening alongside his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his infectious laugh, his wonderful sense of humour, and the stories he loved to share with Ryan’s friends.
Constantino is survived by his wife of 48 years, Catalina “Lita” Lazo; his beloved son, Ryan Lazo, and daughter-in-law, Michelle; and his cherished grandchildren, Lola and Mateo. He is also survived by his sister, Rizalina, and many nieces and nephews, including Elnora Lazo Lanuza (Rene, Grace, Katherine), Hilario Lazo, Reynaldo Lazo, Marilou Quijado, Cristeta Rillera, Priscilla Badua, Jocelyn dela Pasion, Mylene Castillo, Hilario Lazo Jr., Romana Tamondong, Joe Tamondong, Gina Tamondong, Ben Lazo Sr., Ben Lazo Jr., and Fabian Lazo.
He was predeceased by his parents, Jose Lazo and Lucia Banot; his brothers, Hilario Lazo Sr. and Bienvenido Lazo; and his sister, Romana Lazo Tamondong.
Cremation has taken place.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all the amazing doctors, nurses, and staff of 7.4. We felt all the love and support that my father received during his time there.
