

76, of Ardoise, Hants County, died at home from recurrent pancreatic cancer. David taught for five years in the public school system in Donkin, Lockeport and Kennetcook. He then earned a Diploma in Nursing from the Victoria General Hospital School of Nursing. David worked for twenty-four years as a registered nurse, mainly in the Department of Emergency Medicine, at the the Victoria General Hospital and the Halifax Infirmary. He is survived by his partner of forty-six years, Brian Jackson; by his sister Jane Hillis, Glace Bay, and her children, Kyle, Kayla, Lena, and Kelsee; and by his brother Sheldon Hillis (Patricia), Glace Bay, and his children, Chris and Bonnie; and by many cousins with whom he grew up in the village of Donkin. He was predeceased by his mother Ruby Florence Morford Hillis, his father Stanley Marshall Hillis and his birth father Noel Stanley McClair. Cremation has taken place. The interment will take place at a later date in St. Alban's Columbarium, Cathedral of All Saints, Halifax.
