

OSMOND, David – It is with great sadness that the family of the late David J. Osmond announces his passing on Sept. 1, 2013 at the age of 62. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories wife Maxine (Shears), daughter, Heather King (Brian), grandchildren, Lyta Ruth King (favourite granddaughter), and Bryce Osmond John King (Best Buddy) Richmond, Virginia. Sister Margaret Wilson of St. John’s, NL, and brother Derek Osmond (Val) of Dublin, Ireland, as well as a number of nieces and nephews and a large circle of cousins, special Aunt Jean, many relatives and friends.
Born in Corner Brook, NL on Dec. 31, 1950. David attended Memorial University in St. John’s where he received a Bachelor of Commerce and did his post graduate diploma in Hospital Administration at the University of Toronto.
Predeceased by parents Eli John (Jack) and Diana Osmond (nee Skanes).
David worked at Western Memorial Hospital in Corner Brook, NL before moving to Nova Scotia in 2002, where he took positions with Cape Breton Regional Health Authority in Sydney and Capital Health in Halifax. David served on the National Board of Canadian College of Health Services Executives 1992-1995. Served on committees of the Newfoundland Health Boards Association and was a member of the City of Corner Brook Disaster Planning Committee. David served his community in a voluntary capacity on a number of boards, Town Council and Church. As well, he participated in a number of service organizations. He tutored Laubach Literacy of Canada in Corner Brook where he provided service to the local Learning Center. Was a member of District 3 School Board, was Councillor, Deputy Mayor and Mayor, Town of Pasadena, NL. Director Junior Achievement of Western Newfoundland.
On moving to Halifax, David found a warm welcome at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Birch Cove where he served on a number of committees and served as a Lay reader.
The Family wishes to thank everyone, the doctors, nurses and staff of Palliative Care and V.O.N. Family and friends may visit J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive on Wednesday, September 4th from 6-8 pm. Funeral Service will be held at St. Peter’s Church, 3 Dakin Drive, Birch Cove, Halifax, NS on Thursday, September 5th at 2 pm. Donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Autism Society.
