Born to the late Wilbert and Daisie (Cox) Mintis, maternal grandparents Adelia and Garnett Cox and paternal grandparents Jane and Stanley Mintis.
Dennis is survived by his brother Ernest, sisters Marcella Shears, Laura (Bengt) Jonsson, Sharon Gibbons-Cox, Jane Joyce Watson and Ola (Andrew) Salandy and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Dennis was predeceased by his brothers John Wayne, Kenneth Owen and Richard Stanley, and his sister Betty-Jean.
Before becoming a resident of Northwood Manor, Dennis was cared for and lived with his niece Toya Mintis. He was affectionately referred to as “Uncle Den” and was proud to part of her family with his great niece and nephews. A constant source of entertaining them with his passion for Kung-fu and Godzilla movies. To say he will be missed is an understatement.
He resided at Northwood Manor for the past 6 years where he met his honey, Lillian Hodder, who filled his remaining days with love and joy.
Although he left us far too soon, he will be remembered for his infectious laugh and warm smile, love of model cars and his unique ability to dismantle and rebuild most electronics. His devotion to his family was an integral part of who he was, and we will miss him immensely.
Celebration of life will be held on August 5th at 2pm at Northwood Manor, 2630 Gottingen St, Halifax.
