Born and raised in metro Halifax, he was a lifelong resident of Nova Scotia.
Don was an active man throughout his life. In his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball, hockey, hunting, fishing and wood working. Later in life he remained active in various organizations including, the Scotia Bowman Archery Club, The Shriners, The Bedford Masonic Lodge and Sackville Bowling. He also volunteered endless hours helping his local church and donated beautifully crafted woodworking to help raise money for charity. He was a highly skilled and intelligent man who liked to remain busy. He spent his professional life with MT&T from which he retired with 36 years of service. After retirement, Don continued his active lifestyle by remaining involved with many of the above mentioned activities in addition to building beautiful boats and canoes for his children and grand children. He was a strong and dedicated family man who loved gardening with his wife, Mary, as well as helping those he loved in any way he could. He had a fantastic sense of humour and loved the same in others. Those he leaves behind will miss his playful smile, the twinkle in his eyes, his animated storytelling and his incredible depth of spirit. Although he has moved beyond this world, he will live forever in the hearts of all those who were blessed to have known him. We miss him already.
A funeral service will be held Dec 6, at All Saints Anglican Church in Bedford at 11am with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the VG’s Palliative Care Unit (7A) or to the VG’s Sunshine Room.
