

Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mildred (Rowe) Simmons.
Don spent his career in the Federal Government; where he retired from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Small Craft Harbours. Throughout his career, he fostered many friendships. Over the past 22 years, he and his wife Diane enjoyed wintering in Florida. Some of Don’s many interests were golfing at Avon Valley, bowling, dancing, gardening, and cleaning his car. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up, and he loved to make people laugh. Don maintained his good sense of humour throughout his illness.
Don is survived by his wife, Diane (Edwards); daughters Joanne (Tony) Corbett, Dawn (Gary) Rudolph, all of Halifax; son Graham (Janine Hillier), Toronto; sisters Marie Foster, Brantford, Ont., Renie French, Elmsdale, N.S.; brother Jack Simmons, Lwr. Sackville; four grandchildren: Kyle, Erica, Michael and Brooke; and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by brothers Leo and Joe and sister Betty Martin.
Visitation will be held at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax (902) 455-0531 on Sunday, April 29th from 2-5pm. Memorial Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, April 30th at 2:00pm.
