Donald Ralph Young

Don worked at MT&T for 37 years retiring in 1992. His nickname at the office was Papa Smurf. He was an avid guitar man, playing in the band “The Country Rebel’s”. Besides his love of music he was an avid bowler in several leagues through work, loved travelling and family gatherings. He always looked forward to the holidays and the annual family BBQ when we would all be together.

Survived by daughters, Darlene, Sharon Westhaver (William); sons, James (Margot Martell), Philip (Joanne Anthony); 7 grandchildren, Ernest, Anthony, Cory, Kylie, Kelsey, Shelby, Justin; 1 great granddaughter, Kendall. Predeceased by his wife, Marjorie; son, Barrie; brother, Robert; father, Ralph and mother, Mary.

There will be no visitation. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 9th at 2 pm, in J.A Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, (455-0531). Burial in Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
