OBITUARY
Dorothy Pearl Dunbrack
February 12, 1921 – April 8, 2013
Dunbrack (Campbell), Dorothy Pearl “Dot”, “Peg”, of Halifax, February 12, 1921 – April 8, 2013 It is with heavy hearts the family announces Mom’s (Grandma’s, Great Grandma’s) passing at Maplestone Enhanced Care on Monday in her 93rd year. A life long resident of Halifax, Mom was born to John Alexander and Pearl Loretta (Mills) Campbell. She attended Sir Charles Tupper School and Halifax Academy. She was employed with Sears Canada and later with Fosberg and Mitchell Ltd.
Mom was a member of the United Church of Canada for over 80 years and a regular for Sunday service at St John’s United in Halifax for more than 60 years. She actively took part in her children’s lives while they were growing up by being a member of the Ardmore, Chebucto and Queen Elizabeth Home and School Associations. She also was secretary of the Wanderers Track and Field Club. She actively took part in her grandchildren’s lives by being their number one fan at their numerous sporting events.
Mom loved life and could find joy and amusement out of the smallest of things. Her hearty laugh could be heard over a boisterous crowd and she always had time for children, animals and those less fortunate than herself. She gave freely of her time to volunteer for the Nova Scotia Rehab Auxillary and St Theresa’s Church luncheons. Mom enjoyed bowling, baking cookies, swimming at the Waegwaltic club, Friday night shopping, Sunday BBQs and walking her little dog Mitzie.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Charles (Mike) Edward Dunbrack, sister Margie Ryan, brother Edward Campbell and her daughter Nancy Tokaryk. Survived by her daughters Sharon Daikens, Halifax, Susan Beazley (Ken) Brookside, son Gary Dunbrack (Mary), Hammonds Plains, and son-in-law Fred Tokaryk, Halifax. To Sharon, Gary and Susan. We were so sorry to hear about your Mother's passing. We have lost a number of the original residents of Edinburgh Street lately and each lost brings back memories of our early years growing up on the street. They will all be missed and remembered with great affection. Our thoughts and prayers are with each of you and your families.

Dear Susan & family, sorry to hear about your mom's passing. One of the fondest memories I have of your mom is that whenever we went by your house on Edburg Street, I always saw your mother with her apron on, looking to see what kids around the community would be doing so she could hand out freshly baked, hot out of the oven cookies. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of the family during this difficult period. Even though your mom has gone and passed, may you always remember the laughter, love, and joy she provided to a lot of people.
Blessings, Karen Larsen, your former neighbor (Daughter of Mel & Althea Larsen)

Gary & family - So sorry to learn of your loss. I don't think we ever met your Mom but I'm sure she was quite a lady. It sounds like hers was a life well lived. We won't be able to join you at the visitation or the funeral because Robert is recovering from major surgery - but doing quite well.

May we express our condolences to all at this time. As I read the obituary and the mention of the cookies, I can still smell them when I would be at the door to call on Susan to come out to play and you always got one sometimes two cookies to have while running up and down the street. I recall in later years seeing Mrs.D and Mitzie heading up the street for a stroll always with a wave. I know family meant a lot to her and at this time Marie and I are visiting our kids and grand kids in Hershey and Montreal, I am sorry I will not be able to attend but I will speak to you upon return as I always tease Susan as I see her on the street at the store.
God Bless
