GRADY, Dorothy Louise, age 103, Halifax, died peacefully on July 19, 2015, Born in East Chezzetcook, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Edith (Bowes) Grady. She was the last surviving member of the family.
She was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High, Halifax, Teacher’s College, Truro and Mount Saint Vincent University, Halifax. A teacher by profession, she taught both in the county and city of Halifax, retiring from Oxford School in 1977, after thirty-five years with the Halifax School Board.
She was predeceased by three sisters: Ada Brackett, Bertha Connolly and Helen Anderson, and by three brothers: Ernest, Clyde and Clarence, also by nephews Kenneth Grady and H. Doug Anderson. Surviving are nephews Ronald of Montague Mines, NS, Bernard Brackett of Quebec City, QC, Bill Grady of Jeddore, NS, and Robert Grady of Georgetown, ON. She is survived by her good friend, fellow teacher and travelling partner, Rita Lampier.
A member of St. Agnes Church, she served both as Eucharistic and Hospitality Minister and worked at Arborstone Extend-a-Care with the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Agnes for many years.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation.
Funeral from St. Agnes Church on Friday, July 24, 2015, at 10 am. Burial to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorial donation may be made to Feed NS, or a charity of choice.
