OBITUARY

Dorothy "Anne" MacQuin

October 22, 1953 – October 3, 2025
Obituary of Dorothy "Anne" MacQuin
IN THE CARE OF

JA Snow Funeral Home

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Dorothy “Anne” MacQuin, who passed away at the age of 71 on October 3, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Anne was a devoted wife, mother, nanny, sister, and friend whose warmth touched everyone who knew her.

Anne was the firstborn of eight children born to Eileen and Hedley Eric Mullins (Susan, Debbie, Kathy, Ellen, David, Darrell, Rick) and went on to have three children: Melody (Darryl) Chickness, Tanya (Steven) Stewart, and Gerald (Kelley) MacQuin.

Anne is survived by her eight grandchildren: Kyle MacQuin, Jessica Hartjes, Devon Hartjes, Austin Stewart, Hunter MacQuin, Joshua Stewart, Logan MacQuin, and Caitlyn MacQuin.

Anne and the love of her life, Gerald “Gerry” MacQuin, shared many chapters together through his years of service in the Canadian Armed Forces. During that time, Anne served as a cook in military mess halls, preparing and serving meals at each base where her family was stationed. Military life took her to homes across Canada before she eventually settled into her forever home in Loch Lomond, Cape Breton. Anne enjoyed countless adventures with her husband Gerry on their motorcycle, exploring the Maritimes, though Anne always deeply cherished a day spent shopping in town with the girls.

Anne had a deep love for creating. Whether she was sewing, knitting, or baking, her hands were rarely still. She often shared her joy with her large family, welcoming them into her home for tea biscuits, a dip in the lake, and roasting marshmallows by the bonfi re. Her passion for creativity and time spent outdoors has been lovingly passed down to her children and grandchildren.

Anne will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and ability to fill a room with laughter. She will be deeply missed and held forever in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimer's Society of Canada or Diabetes Canada.
