Singer, Douglas Norman – 60, passed away peacefully, after a brief battle with cancer, at the Victoria General Hospital on January 17th, 2018. Dougie was born in Gimili, Manitoba on January 15th, 1958. He was the eldest son of Dolores Singer and the late Douglas Singer.
He worked at the Halifax Dockyard as a Marine Engineer for 38 years and gained many cherished colleagues over the years.
He is survived by his wife, Corinne; his sons, Craig, Jason and Adam; stepchildren, Roger (Naomi), Louise (Darren); his 7 grandchildren; his brothers, Frederick (Joanne), Bruce (Allie), Dwayne (Nadine), Darren, Christopher (Chantal); sisters, Tamara (Charlie), Shelley (Stephen); and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his nephew, Joshua and sister-in-law, Yolande.
Dougie was loved dearly by his family and friends. He was a man of few words and he would drop everything to lend a helping hand. He grew up in Halifax and spent the majority of his childhood and teen age years getting in trouble with his siblings. He was a great Dad and was proud of his kids. He loved going to his camper and sitting around the fire with his Golden Wedding. He spent his free time tinkering with cars and loved every minute of it. Dougie was a kind and gentle soul and was taken from us too soon.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 20th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. The service will be held on Sunday, January 21st at 2:00 pm at J.A. Snow Funeral Home and a reception will follow.
