Alan grew up in Barrington Passage, a small coastal town on the southern tip of Nova Scotia in Shelburne County, before eventually making his way to the City of Halifax where he spent most of his life.
Among many personal accomplishments throughout Alan’s life, he felt his greatest legacy―other than his five children―came in his later years when he embarked on a spiritual path to better understand the meaning of God in his life. This journey of spiritual awareness led to his establishing a local chapter of The Noetic Nautilus Society, a spiritual community group, where he spent many years exploring quantum science, spiritual intelligence, healing intention and the power of meditation. Alan was an active participant of the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS), attending spiritual retreats in the hopes of finding a deeper meaning and connection to life, which he ultimately did.
Alan was an avid seeker of knowledge and kept his mind active reading many books. He enjoyed the great outdoors, joining hiking groups, going for beach walks, and sitting and reflecting by the ocean. Alan was moved by the power of music, Clair de Lune, among one of his favourites. He understood the importance of a loving family and building special memories.
Alan was predeceased by his parents, Douglas and Gladys Snow, and his first-born son Stephen Snow. He is survived by his sister Marilyn Leaman, and Doreen Snow, the mother of his children. He is lovingly remembered by his daughters; Penny, Kimberly and Nicolle and son Bradley, by his grandchildren Brendan, Ryan, Conor, Jack, Kayla, Taryn, Keira, Sabastian and soon-to-be-born Sivaana, as well as great granddaughter Sky.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Atlantic School of Theology in the Chapel on August 26, 2021 at 1:00 pm (HAS BEEN CANCELLED - see Service details below) In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Institute of Noetic Sciences at noetic.org.
