

Godwin, Edwin Cyril-It is with great sadness that our family announces Ed’s passing on November 8, 2013 at the age of 90, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Ed was born in Bedford, one of nine children of the late John and Ida(Brennan)Godwin. He attended St. Mary’s College(University) graduating May 21, 1945 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. While attending St. Mary’s he carried on his passion for hockey. He was a member of the 1942 St. Mary’s hockey team that won the Provincial University Hockey Championship. Ed joined the staff of Imperial Oil in 1945. It was there he met the love of his life Agatha(Bubbles)(Hatt) and they were married on September 27, 1947(66 years). Ed is survived by his wife, Bubbles, his six children, Karen(David)Harrison of Wolfville, Rick(Brenda)Godwin of Halifax, Carla(John)Surette of Yarmouth, David(Shelley)Godwin of Berwick, Jackie(Ronald)Ryckman of Halifax and Brian Godwin of Prospect, grandchildren Terrie Godwin, Erin Boucher, Omri and Niv Harrison, Alicia and Katrina Godwin, Bradley and Brandon Ryckman, great grandchildren Spencer and Jensyn Richardson, Paige Boucher and Cohen Johnson and Ed’s sister, Margaret Godwin. Ed was an avid member of the Mayflower Curling Club and volunteered with the Boy Scouts of Canada, Home of the Guardian Angel and St. Vincent Guest Home. With heartfelt appreciation the family would like to thank daughter/sister Carla whose unwavering love saw her Dad’s final wishes through, we as a family will never forget. The family would like to thank Roz Benoit(N/P) for all the support she has given us over the last few months and thanks to the VON, Palliative Care, Revera Home Care and Jen from Community Care. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 12, 2013 from 6-8pm in JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr, Hfx NS,B3S 0E1(455-0531) Service will be held Wednesday, November 13, 11am in St. John the Baptist Church.
