I first met Beth when she joined the ELLA team. She quickly earned the title of an ELLA Supreme! What a wonderful, fun-loving person she was. I ran into her this past summer. She was as upbeat and positive as ever--living life to the fullest. She is an inspiration to us all. She will be sorely missed.

Dear John and Family, 

"Mrs. Renouf" was very memorable teacher during my days at Halifax West. I smiled at Lousie M's remark on Mrs. Renouf's words: "Don't worry, try again." Words I often heard from Mrs. Renouf whenever I had a basketball in my hands! A sport I was never able to master but participated in thanks to Mrs. Renouf's encouragement. Just as in later years when we would cross paths, she encouraged me, as she did other former students, to call her Beth;  but, I could not! When saying goodbye I would say, "Hope to see you soon" and in my head add "Mrs. Renouf" 

Beth touched so many lives and will be missed by many.

Dear loved ones of Beth,
Not knowing that Beth was ill, I am shocked and saddened to hear of her recent death. The photo captures her energetic and upbeat spirit. I always enjoyed her presence in the staff room of HWHS.  There was only one time that I saw her lose her composure: we were having a pot luck lunch and around 11 AM she came into the staff room with her contribution.  She flung her "ruined" apple crisp onto the table with anger and disgust.  During the drive it had lost its balance on the car seat and her once-masterpiece was now a jumbled mass .  We enjoyed eating anything so it did not matter to us!
I send you my deepest sympathy during your loss of such a lovable soul.  I will always think of her when I donate to the cancer society and offer prayers for the continual progress of her spirit in the worlds beyond.  Margaret Paterson

I direct this message to you three because I know you but I also send my heart felt condolences to Beth's brothers, sister and nieces and nephews. My daughter Andrea played volleyball because of Beth and went on to successfully win an athletic scholarship that paid her tuition and opened doors in many directions.  Beth always stopped to ask how Melissa and Andrea were and she had such a wonderful sense of humour.  I could talk to her so easily.  I haven't seen her lately and I am so sorry for that.   Keep her in your hearts and she will always be with you.  She loved you all so much as I know you love her.

I just want to express my deepest sympathy to Mrs. Renouf's / Beth's family. I knew Mrs. Renouf first as my phys-ed teacher at Halifax West and later in life as a teacher at Sir Charles Tupper, where my three boys attended, and also as a fellow Nubody's member and neighbour in Mahone Bay. Beth was always an inspiration to me, she had endless energy and was a real role model for living an active and healthy life style. I remember, on more than one occasion, being in a fitness class and feeling like I just couldn't do another push-up or knee bend or cycle any faster on the bike when I would look ahead at Beth and think if my phys-ed teacher who is more than 15 years older than me can do it than surely I can keep going. And she did it all with a wonderful smile. I will really miss that beautiful smile.
I hope all your wonderful memories of Beth will warm your hearts now and forever.

Dear John and family, Beth exposed us to the wonder of travel. She took us by the hand and showed us the world, if not the whole world at least the best parts of it - the warm and sunny ones. Beth was our guide, our interpreter and our catalyst. Intrepid, she searched for and procured rental properties with the skill of a hunter. We reaped the benefits of her drive and tenacity. We danced on a moonlit beach to "At last" while nature performed a one hour total eclipse of the moon. We swam in bottomless blue cenotes and watched handsome men fight magnificent bulls to a dark conclusion. Flamingoes, dolphins and pelicans entertained us daily. We climbed the steps of Mayan ruins over 1200 years old in order to glimpse the sun on its annual migration through the earth's latitudes. All this beauty, diversity and friendship was given to us by Beth whose enthusiam for life and travel was boundless. Thank you Beth. We will miss you! Much love - Rosemary and Bill

Beth was a very outgoing, friendly and just a joy to be with.  We had lots and lots of laughs together, mainly about our golfing skills at Bluenose. My heartfelt sympathy to the family of "Mrs. Renouf". As noted by my brother, our family were all students of hers and she was a fabulous teacher and mentor. I was the first of us through those doors, and her positive approach to sport and coaching has remained with me to this day. Although Beth and I  were not close personal friends, I have fond memories of her from Sir Charles Tupper days. I always admired Beth's never-ending dedication to running and her interest in promoting sports in our community. My deepest condolences to the family. "Mrs. Renouf" as I called her as as student, was one of the most encouraging and supportive influences I had as a student and track athlete at Halifax West. I remember my first day in gym in grade 10, and upon our first meeting she said with a laugh "we've been waiting for you" - a reference to me being the 5th and last McLean athlete to come through the gymnasium door. We stayed in touch occasionally in my adulthood, and I recall with warmth and a slight smile the day she asked me to call her Beth and I just couldn't do it. I will always hold the chats and experiences we shared in fond memory. I will miss you Mrs. Renouf.
