ARSENAULT, Emile Joseph – 80, passed away in his sleep on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at the Halifax Infirmary following complications from Stroke on December 21, 2010. He was a son of the late Celina (Bourque) and George Arsenault. Dear brother of Anita, Ralph, sister Celine, Ginger, Loretta, Germaine, Larry (all predeceased), Irene, sister Edith, George, Robert, Marg & sister Mary-Anne, and will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Devoted husband of 45 years to Theresa (Hall), loving father of Paul, Mary-Anne and Nicole, all of Halifax, and energetic "Papa" to grandchildren Lauren Waye, Emma and Fulton Logan, Emile led the family through decades of challenges and triumphs. As his many friends will attest, Emile was a full participant in all life had to offer! Best known as a musician who played guitar, trumpet and piano, he was also an enthusiastic sportsman - pitching softball, playing hockey, golf, tennis and curling. In more recent years, he was an avid fan of his children's and grandchildren's efforts in school, sports and music. Having recently relocated from Moncton to Halifax, it didn't take Dad long to find a Bridge foursome, and willing participants in fireside singsongs and his famous Sunday brunches. Emile/Dad was ahead of his time as a hands-on father, a jokester, and a man of principle who spoke up for his convictions and encouraged others to do the same. In honour of his giving nature, please join us this Sunday, May 8th at 2:00 p.m., for a celebration of his life at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax (902) 455-0531. A funeral will also take place at his home parish of St. Augustine's Church, Moncton, New Brunswick, on Saturday, May 14th at 10:30am.
