Murphy, Eric Joseph – April 12, 1947 of Beechville (72), died Feb. 15, 2020, at his home in Timberlea. Eric was a roofer for over 35 years, co-owning S&M Roofing for over 20 years. In 1999, Eric was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, therefore unable to continue to do roofing.
Eric was predeceased by his mother Jeanette Murphy and stepfather, Ernest Hamilton. After being diagnosed with heart failure Eric was baptized and in 2004 became a Deacon at his local church, Beechville Baptist. As a faithful member, Eric was actively involved in the Sunday School, the Sick Committee and the Beechville Laymen’s. He was known for his visitation ministry with the sick at home and in the hospital. Eric was always willing to assist wherever required at church and in the community.
Eric is survived by his wife Veronica, who stood by his side through all his illness, daughters, Erica (Halifax), Terene (Ziad), Halifax; Jasmine Timberlea and Nadine (Mitchell), Timberlea; sons, Eric, Halifax; Dwayne (Rachelle), Halifax; Trevis (Bella), Toronto; sisters, Rose - BC, Madeline, Yvonne, Susan (Mike), Paulette (Roy), Margo (Frankie), all of Halifax; brothers, Herman (Shirley), Daniel (Rosanna), Andrew (Laurie), Halifax, 18 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Eric was predeceased by his sister Joy Clayton and son in law Lajuane (Tito) Bruce. A celebration of Eric’s life will be held on Saturday Feb. 22, 2020 at 2:30 pm at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 633 Pockwock Road, Upper Hammonds Plains. Visitation will be held on Friday Feb. 21 at Beechville Baptist Church, 1135 St. Margarets Bay Road Beechville, 2-4pm and 7-9pm (the AUBA Laymen’s Service at 7:30pm). In lieu of flowers or donations, Eric asks that you take time to visit someone who is ill at home or in the hospital. Cherish the time you spend with them!
