Ernest H. Yeadon

YEADON, Ernest (Ernie) 81, Halifax, passed away March 18, 2011. He was the son of the late Harold and Irene (Jones) Yeadon, Halifax. He is survived by his wife, the former Nancy Longmire, daughter Jane (Mrs. John Gallinaugh), Halifax, son Mark, Halifax, two grandsons (Jack and Bill) and two granddaughters (Erin and Lauren). He was predeceased by his sister Pearl McLean.

Active in sports, he played Junior and Senior hockey for Halifax St. Mary’s and N.S. Senior Champions Lunenburg Falcons. The 1948 St. Mary’s Junior Hockey Team on which he played goalie was inducted into the Nova Scotia Hall of Fame in 2003. He enjoyed golf and was a life member of the Mayflower Curling Club.

He was employed with Canada Post for 36 years retiring in 1989.

Ernie Yeadon will be remembered most by all who knew him for his kindness, patience and good humour.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 2 - 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 22 at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. There will be a private service of committal in Fairview Lawn Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to any charity.
