Foster Lindsay Doyle left this world at age 65 on April 30, and for those who knew and loved him he made the world a better place. Born in Halifax to Ken and Phyllis Doyle of Bedford on July 3,1953 he lived most of his life in Bedford and Lower Sackville. Foster’s family and friends were the most important things his life. He leaves his beloved wife Lori MacLeod Doyle, his sister Barbara (Robert Rushton), New Minas; two nieces Christianne Rushton (Michael Caines) Kentville, Heather Rushton ( Alain Girard), Halifax, and two great nephews Aaron and Liam Caines, Kentville.
Fos and Lori were also loving pet parents to a variety of canine fur-babies and in latter years dog-sat pets for friends. They even hosted some feline companions, and enjoyed them!
Foster earned two degrees from Dal, and then followed his passion for motorcycles to work for Honda Canada as a Motorcycle Sales Manager for over 30 years. During this time he was an award winning employee, a mentor, a colleague and a friend to those who worked with him. In his retirement he worked at Avon Valley Golf Club in the summers, and at the Cleve’s location at Ski Martock in the winter, where he brought his trademark humility and humour to every interaction.
Fos and Lori loved their time together, and created a lifetime of wonderful memories including learning to ballroom dance, taking martial arts lessons (where they each earned a black belt), and most recently sharing a passion for golf, especially in warm and sunny places.
In spite of professional success Fos was at heart a gentle, loving person who had a wicked sense of humour, and a positive outlook on life. While his last months were difficult he was clear that he was grateful to his medical team, to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit (7A at the VG), and to the many who called, texted, visited and held him in their hearts. He genuinely felt that his life had been a good one, and that he had lived life to the fullest. He was grateful for the simple things, good friends, a good steak, a glass of good wine and a good laugh, and he treasured the time he spent time with loved ones.
There will be no formal memorial service but Fos’ family would love to invite you all to celebrate the life of this wonderful man at an informal reception to be held at J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, on Monday May 6 between the hours of 6 and 9 p.m. Come and share your memories of Fos with us.
