It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Frank Sullivan Jr., of Halifax, at the age of 51, from a heart attack. Born in Halifax, a long-time good ole’ Fairview boy, he was a graduate of Halifax West High and Saint Mary’s University (B.Comm). He was the beloved son of Frank Sr. and Isabel (Butler) Sullivan.
Husband, father, son, brother and friend, he touched everyone he met in a positive way. Frank adored his wife Nola (Greene) (“Princess Nola”) and beamed with pride for his wonderful son Dale. Frank was a true family man and always looked out for those in need. He enjoyed his time volunteering as a coach for his son’s hockey team. He spent countless hours playing cross-crib with his father as well as cheering on their beloved Chicago Black Hawks.
He was not only blessed with his large extended family but also cherished his ball hockey family. He played for many years and connected so many people. He was a proud member of the Ballstar Hockey family and also organized Saturday hockey for many years.
Frank was a long-time employee of Canada Post and was dearly thought of by many of his co-workers. He also had many great friends from his Fairview neighborhood, and was an avid reader with a keen interest in philosophy.
Whether it be family, hockey, or work, Frank brought a sincere passion to be the best he could be, honest, hard- working and full of integrity.
He is survived by his wife of almost 20 years, Nola; his son, Dale; his parents; grandmother, Marjorie Scott; sisters, Rosalie (Mike) Englehutt and Susan (John Makin); brothers, Gregory (Barb) and Blain (Nicole); sister-in-law, Carla Greene (Stuart Ellis); nieces, Kate, Angel, and Gabriella; nephews, Chayce, Joshua, Cameron and Patrick; father and mother-in-law, Art and Rosemarie Greene, all of whom he adored. He was also close to his many cousins, aunts and uncles.
You were taken away too early but still touched more lives than could be imagined. Gone but not forgotten.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 7th 2016 at 2:00 pm-4:00 pm, and 7:00 pm-9:00 pm at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive.
Funeral will be held on Friday, January 8th, 10:30 am at Saint Benedict Parish. Father Mallon officiating.
Cremation/Burial to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made payable to his wife Nola Sullivan to help with Dale's education fund.
