PELRINE, GARY , 63 of Halifax, passed away the morning of Friday, August 9th surrounded by his family and loved ones. Born in Halifax, he was the son of Jimmy and Marie Pelrine. A life-long civil servant, Gary was dedicated and hard-working in all aspects of his 30 year career with City Field (HRM). He was an avid athlete throughout his life with a passion for sports, including baseball with teams such as GW Mills and Provincial Champs the Wayne Brown Chevies. He also played hockey on several teams, being proud to organise the City Boys Friday Night League for 39 years, where he and his brother Donnie enjoyed playing together. Gary also never missed a chance to support his beloved New England Patriots, whether watching on tv or sporting the latest swag. Upon retirement from HRM, Gary filled his days golfing with his buddies Dave and Brian at Brunello and Air Lanes. He also spent countless hours cheering for his hometown favourites, the Mooseheads, with his buddies Mike and Rob, as well as many other family and friends. When the love of his life Sandra could pull him away from sports, they could be found at one of their favourite southern destinations indulging in regional cuisine and making friends. Gary was thoughtful, dependable, and always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need; often going above and beyond, especially for his family. His gift for telling stories and jokes made him a welcome addition to any social gathering, he truly was the life of the party, unless the Patriots were playing, of course. His absence will be sorely missed by family and friends alike. Survived by his wife, Sandra MacDougall; sons, Gregory and Patrick Pelrine, feathered son Kiwi Pelrine; sons-in-law, Joseph Gouthrou and Gregory Power; siblings, Diane Moulton, Paul (Bernadette), Wayne (Peggy), Donnie, Darrel “Bud” (Anne), Debbie MacDonald (Tony), Heather Delorey (David); brothers-in-law, Mike MacDougall (Carol), Gerard MacDougall; sister-in-law Maureen MacDougall; his many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Though Gary was close with his entire family, his niece, Tanya Pelrine, and nephew, Justin Clancey were like children to him. He also shared a special bond with nephew, Jason Moulton, with whom he enjoyed playing both hockey and golf. He was predeceased by grandparents, Florence and Archie Martin, Jeffery and Minnie Pelrine; parents, Jimmy and Marie Pelrine; in-laws, Gerry and Basil MacDougall; as well as brother-in-law Dave Moulton. Celebration of life to be held at Fairview Legion, 50 Hillcrest St, Halifax on Friday, August 16th, 2019, 2pm - 6pm. Family burial to be held at a later date. A very special thank you Drs. Morzycki, Porter, and Aliter, his oncology assistant Wavey, and the nursing team on 5A, especially Erin. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Palliative Care Unit, VG Site, QEII Halifax, or the charity of your choice.

My fondest memories of Gary will be his acceptance of all Sandra’s single girlfriends. He was always happy to include us in whatever functions he and Sandra were attending and make sure we had a good time. Always willing to get up on the dance floor and boogy 😅 with all of us. RIP Gary, you will be missed by so many. I will miss our banters when visiting...😿
Will miss my chicken fajitas to xo

It is with great grief that I send my deepest sympathy to Sandra and all the Pelrine family.
I'm still in disbelief that Gary and I are not selecting the Moosehead games we would go to this season. The outings certainly won't have that "Gary touch".
While the sadness during this time is difficult to deal with and tears will be shed, remember that Gary would want all of us - Sandra, family and friends - to remember all the good times we had with him.
Goodbye Buddy - I'm really gonna miss you.
