George was a kind and generous man who prioritized family and friends above all else. George let it be known to his sons on many occasions that soon after arriving in Canada, once he and the love of his life Joanne were married, they did not have even a nickel to their names. But he worked tirelessly to put food on the table for his family, to build their home, and to provide whatever they needed. The devotion that George and Joanne had for each other was evident and inspiring. George and his siblings who also immigrated to Canada all raised families in the same neighbourhood, so it was common for aunts, uncles, and cousins to be at any of the houses at any time. George and Joanne always opened their home to family and their friends from the Greek community, of which George was a significant member; he is a former President of the community’s Greek School. George enjoyed meeting his friends for coffee during the week and on weekends for food, drink, and laughs. As much as George will be missed, he will above all else remain beloved and respected.
