Gerald Werner Fuss

Born September 1, 1957 in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, Gerald’s family immigrated to Canada in 1959, settling in Calgary, Alberta. Gerald received a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology in 1980 from the University of Calgary and achieved the designation of Professional Geologist from the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta in 1983. Specializing in petroleum geology, Gerald had a long and successful career in oil and gas exploration.

Gerald is survived by his loyal partner of the past ten years, Jean Wright-Popescul (Halifax), his son Nicholas Charles (Nicole), parents Herbert and Helga (née Meier) Fuss, brother Harry (Lois) (all of Alberta), and his brother Brian of California. He was predeceased by his wife Nedena and her son Alexander Russell.

A private Christian vigil at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, will be held for Gerald on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow in the spring at St. Columba Cemetery, Iona, Nova Scotia.
