Age 85, died suddenly on October 29, 2019, at the home of his son while on a visit to Toronto, Ontario.

Born in 1934 and raised in Millview, PEI, the son of George and Jennie (Lea) Jenkins, Gordon lived most of his life in Halifax before moving to Middleton in 2012. After graduating from Mount Allison University in 1955, he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a flying officer (navigator), then as the town engineer of Summerside, PEI.

He moved to Halifax to raise his family and pursue a career in civil engineering, most notably spending more than 30 years with Parks Canada. A man of ever-deepening faith, his retirement years were spent in dedicated and contemplative study of the Word of God. A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Gordon will be remembered as both a scholar of incredible intellect and as one able to talk to anyone and make them feel at ease.

He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Elaine (Llewellyn). He leaves his wife of seven years, Emilie (White); his children, Anne (Chris) Sangster, Joy Jenkins, Paul (Liz Lourenco) Jenkins, and Melanie (Darren) Fisher; his stepchildren, Catherine Mallia, Patricia Mallia, and Michael (Shauna) Mallia; his grandchildren, Lily (Thomas Saunders) Sangster, Jane Sangster, Sebastian Fisher, Imogen Fisher, and Benjamin Jenkins; his brothers, Wendell (Jean), Fred (Evelyn), and Lloyd (Marie), and many nieces and nephews.

My wife Kathy and I are very sorry to have just learned of Cousin Gordon's passing. We remember fondly our visit to his home in Halifax in 1995 with our daughter Amanda, then 8, and the gracious reception we received at that time. Conversation flowed easily, although we cousins had only previously met face to face a few times, most memorably to me when Gordon accompanied his mother Jenny to our family home in Westwood, MA. when I was perhaps 16. At this time of mourning we wish to express our sincere condolences especially to his brothers Wendell, Frederick, and Lloyd as well as to Gordon's entire extended family. We will remember him as a loving, thoughtful and extremely literate family man who lived an exemplary life.

I am a cousin of Gordon's. I remember that I met him just one time when he and his brothers came to visit my Mother, Hilda Lea Bedford. I was probably 12 or 13 years old and was quite excited to have all of you visiting. I am so sorry for your loss. I'm also sorry that we have never been in each other's lives. Please e-mail me if you would like and we can get to know each other now.

My e-mail address is Skofone@aol.com
