Born in Halifax, he was the son of Philip and Elizabeth Lavers.
Gordon was an avid hunter and fisherman; he loved to play pool and casino.
He was a retired Long Shoreman at the Halifax Waterfront where he had many years of service.
He is survived by his step daughter, Bernice Laurette and step son, James Searson, both of Halifax.
Gordon is predeceased by his sisters, Zelda and Irene.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, September 7th from 1-3 pm in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive.
Burial in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
