

Born in East Dover, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Bertha (Coolen) Beck. Gwen was involved at Rockingham Seniors Centre, where she bowled and played darts. She was a keen card player; especially cribbage, an avid reader and loved spending time with family. She was devoted to her family, her children and grandchildren and was loved and admired by all who knew her. She will be sadly missed. Gwen is survived by daughters: Patricia (Byron) Thompson, Tubac, Arizona USA, Margaret Kieley, Halifax N.S., Gwendolyn (Michael) Crowell, St. Margaret’s Bay, N.S.; sons: Andrew (Deborah) Roy, Gull Lake, AB, James (Angelika) Roy, Lakeville, N.S.; sister: Vera Fader, Dearborn, Michigan USA; 10 grandchildren: Michelle, Ana, Mary-Lynn, Hether, Matthew, Elizabeth, Timothy, Alex, Patrick and Julie Anne. She is predeceased by her husband, Major Andrew Walter Roy, and brothers and sisters: Ruth Gula, Ralph Beck, Rita Bonang, Maxwell Beck, Jessie Longard, Gerald Beck, Clifford Beck and Stewart Beck. Arrangements are entrusted to J.A. Snow Funeral Home, Halifax. There will be no visitation by request. Funeral service will be held at Saint Benedict Roman Catholic Church, 45 Radcliffe Dr., Halifax on Saturday, January 28th at 9:30am, Father James Mallon officiating. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lwr. Sackville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or St. Thomas Cemetery Fund, 299 Whistler’s Cove Road, East Dover, N.S. B3Z 3W5.
