Dear Penny and family: My mother, Thelma Pierce, asked that I express her sincere condolences to all of you in the death of Harlan. She remembers the last time she spoke with the two of you (at Roy Brown's memorial service) and how very much she appreciated that conversation. She also fondly recalled to me the boat races at Lily Lake many years ago when you and Harlan were part of the group (my late stepfather, Joe Pierce, was one of the racers) and the good times you shared there. It is your own precious memories and the love that you shared as a family that will sustain you through the next part of your life's journey without him. May God continue to strengthen and support each of you. Sincerely in Christian love, Marilyn Hicks Smith and Thelma Pierce

My sincere condolences to you Penny and to your family.

Harland was a wonderful neighbour and friend to my family.
When I went to work for the first time I enjoyed and thanked
Harland for the drive to and from work.
Harland was liked and respected by all the "Carnell/Earle family
and Rockingham residents as a whole especially the Fire
Department, Church and "Melody Drive"
