Heather Jean MacKeigan passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at the age of 52, after a long struggle with an eating disorder. Born in Halifax on Sept 11, 1972, she is survived by her parents, Robbie and Charlotte (Nickerson) MacKeigan, sisters Lesley MacKeigan (Bruce), Jill (Corey) Phelps, and nephews Ryan and Malcolm Phelps.
Heather graduated from Sacred Heart High School, Acadia University, and then NS Community College to become a pastry chef, which was one of her passions. She later switched careers and received her CPA with PricewaterhouseCoopers. Over the years she worked in BC, Toronto, and Halifax until she became too ill to work.
Growing up, she was a competitive equestrian show jumper with her horse Lucky. She loved her years playing rugby at Acadia, with the Halifax Wanderers, and in BC, receiving player of the year with the Vancouver Rugby Club. Her passions in recent years were walking, baking, painting, and enjoying the beach. She will always be remembered for her outgoing spirit. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
