Holly was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She graduated from St Patrick's High School and went on to complete a degree in Sociology from St Mary's University. She spent many of her years working with the City of Halifax organizing senior's services at Spencer house, and later worked for a number of nursing homes organizing recreational activities for seniors. She was a happy and caring person who loved to help others. After years of working in the community Holly decided to become a homemaker and focus on raising her daughters. She eventually returned to the workforce years later when she helped start a local business, Dalcam, with her husband David Merlin and business associate and friend Lee Clarke. Holly was a happy person who loved deeply, always wore her heart on her sleeve and always helped anyone in need in any way she could.
She is survived by the love of her life, David Merlin; her three daughters Anne, Nicole and Rebecca; grandchildren, Olivia, Patrick and Megan; sisters, Elaine, Becky, Susie and brothers Carl, Jim, Terry and Michael. Holly was predeceased by her parents Dorothy and Jim; her sister, Cathy and her sons in law Leo Kamoulakos and Douglas Roy.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at Snows Funeral Home on Thursday, January 5th, 2023 at 10am. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
