

It is with a profound sense of sadness and loss that her family announces the passing of Irene
Mary Nash, 92, of Halifax, on May 15, 2020.
Born in Bay L’Argent, Newfoundland, on August 8, 1927, Irene was a daughter of the late John
and Tryphena (Miles) Pennell. Irene was a loving wife, mother, aunt, sister, grandmother, and
great grandmother.
She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Marie (Brent) Austin and Donna (Winston) McHardy,
daughter-in-law Sandi Nash, grandchildren Jeffrey, Chistopher, Jill, Michael, Karen, David, Mark
and Ryan, and 13 great grandchildren. Irene was predeceased by her husband Louis Frederick,
son Gary Charles, and sisters Carrie Baker, Edna Taylor and Marie Hooper.
Her family offers heartfelt thanks to nieces Marilyn Abramson and Jackie O’Hearon, especially
during Irene’s last months. The family also thanks the residents of Cameron and Bradford Hall,
and the physicians, nurses, care aides, and staff of QEII Hospital, Unit 7.2, for their commitment
to Irene’s care, especially Emma, Sam and Honey.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. A celebration of Irene’s
life will be held at a future date
