It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Isabel on Dec. 26, 2019 at the QEll.
She was born June 26, 1936 in Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia, to the late Lawrence and Edith (Cruikshank) Butler.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Frank Sr.; children, Rosalie (Mike) Englehutt, Gregory (Barbara), Blain (Nicole), Susan, and daughter-in-law, Nola Sullivan; grandchildren, Chayce, Joshua, Dale, Kate, Cameron, Angel and Patrick; sister-in-laws, Shirley and Jean Butler; brother-in-law, Juddie Nicolle; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her beloved son, Frank Jr.; her sisters, Clare (at age 4), Catherine Josey, Evelyn Rutledge, Jean Beaver, and Mary Nicolle; and her brothers, Claude, Thomas and Martin Butler.
Isabel grew up in Sheet Harbour, and at age 18, moved to the city, where she graduated from vocational school, and then worked at Prudential Insurance. After her second child she became a stay at home mom. Her strong faith was the source of her strength and she devoted her life to her husband, children, and grandchildren. Isabel (“Aunt Belle”) loved and welcomed everyone. A visit with her would include baked goods, a pot of tea, and lots of laughs. She found pleasure in the simple things in life, and in later years she surprised us all by becoming an avid sports fan, like her husband. Her warmth and kindness will forever be remembered.
Our family would like to express a special thank you to her daughter, Susan, who took loving care of her these last few years.
Visitation will be January 1, 2020 from 2-4 and from 6-8, at JA Snows funeral home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Mass of Christian Burial will be on January 2, 2020, at 10:30am at Saint Benedict Parish, 45 Radcliffe Dr. Halifax, Archbishop Martin Currie presiding.
