

James (Jim) Cameron Brown, born January 9, 1937 in Bocobec, New Brunswick, passed at 87. Hand in hand with his wife Elaine (Hall) of 61 years, Jim raised his family and lived his life following the examples and footsteps set out before him by his father in heaven and on earth. Jim is survived by his wife and three children: son James William (Bill) Brown and wife Kim (nee: Smith) their children Maria (Brown) and husband Dan Mader, Justin Brown and girlfriend Lauren Parkinson; daughter, Karyl (nee: Brown) and husband Blair Parks and their two children Cameron and wife Jenna Parks, Stirling Parks and girlfriend Katie Hall. And son, George Brown and wife Shelly (Gullickson) and their daughter Emma Studley and boyfriend Brad Archibald. Jim is also survived by his siblings Robert Brown and wife Laura of Saint Andrews, NB; Charles (Charlie) Brown and wife Lynn of Red Deer Alberta, and sister Betty-Jean (Ettinger) Marshall of Red Deer, Alberta. Jim is pre-deceased by his sister Mary Cogswell and parents George and Elizabeth Brown of Bocobec, NB.
Those who were close to Jim know him as someone with a deep love for his wife, family and especially, his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Jim was always quick witted, happy to share a laugh and a good chuckle with those he met.
Jim was an active member of many professional and personal interest groups from Candlelighters and the Ronald McDonald House to being a past Master of the Masonic Lodge of Maine and a Deacon of Faith United Baptist Church in Lower Sackville. He holds a 50 year membership for the Atlantic Golf Course Association and a 55 year member Masonic Grand Lodge of Maine. For many years, Jim played the role of Santa for the Children’s Oncology Department of the IWK in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
A lover of the outside, he held the superintendent position at Brightwood Golf Course for 27 years, and before that at Penobscot Valley Country Club in Maine, and the Algonquin Golf Course in Saint Andrews, NB.
Donations in memory of Jim can be made to either the Ronald McDonald House or IWK, Oncology Department.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 23 at 10 am in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax with a reception to follow.
