

RYAN, James Frances — Halifax, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, in his 76th year. He was the son of the late William and Jane (Gannon) Ryan (Picton, Ont.). Survived by his wife, Mary Alice (Hines) Ryan; daughter, Dr. Catherine Ryan, Stanhope, P.E.I.; son, Joseph (Tracey) of Halifax; beloved grandchildren, Meaghan, Joshua, and Zachary. He was a dear brother to Sister Rose Anne and Sister Rose Mary Ryan of Kingston, Ont.; Loretta Gunn, Stittsville, Ont.; and many beloved nieces and nephews in Nova Scotia and Ontario and many family friends. James was predeceased by loving son, Michael Edward Ryan; brothers, Thomas, Vincent, Daniel and Leo; sisters, Jean and Sister Mary Ryan. He spent 16 years in the RCN and after retiring went on to the Naval Armament Depot and then as supervisor with Canada Post. The family would like to thank Dr. Morris Trager for care and comfort over the years. Visitation will be today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax for friends and family. Funeral mass will be Friday, May 7 at 10 a.m. in Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta Parish, on Normandy Drive. Father Gilbert Bertrand, OMI officiating. Burial at a later date in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Donations may be made to Feed Nova Scotia or charity of choice.
