He is survived by daughter, Kelly (James), Fredericton, three grandchildren, Faith, Lexie and Seth, sisters Sharon (Larry), Thunder Bay, Joanne (Jerry), Tatamagouche, Cindy (Raymond), Halifax, several nieces and nephews and special niece and caregiver, Kimberley.
He was predeceased by son, Bryan and parents, Frances and Joe.
Jim joined the military at age 17, and five years later began working as a firefighter with the Department of National Defence. He then decided to change careers and joined Canada Border Services Agency. It was there he found the greatest passion of his life. He became a Superintendent in 1998 until he retired in October, 2015, although he maintained close contact with many of his coworkers. In fact, his fondest memories were of the golf trips with his CBSA buddies who remained a big support to him throughout his battle.
Jim was very active; you could always depend on seeing him in Clayton Park on his early morning, daily 10K walks. He was also a great photographer and travelled around the province capturing photos of nature and wildlife. He enjoyed most sports, although golf and curling were his favorite. Special thanks to his best friend, Kevin Watson who provided constant support throughout his illness.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 31st, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive. A memorial service for Jim will be held Saturday, April 1st, 2017 at 2 pm at Fairview United Church, Reverend Heather Fraser officiating. Donations may be made to charity of choice.
