Janice M. Avery

AVERY, Janice (Nauss) – 55, of Halifax, formerly of Tabusintac, N.B. passed away on March 15, 2010 in 7A Palliative Care at the VG Hospital, QEII Health Sciences Centre. The battle is over. Janice has won. Her victory is heaven. She was the daughter of Elva Avery (Johnston) and the late Leonard Avery. She is survived by her husband of 13 years, Bob Nauss; her step-daughter Stephanie (Jamie) and two step-grandchildren of Dartmouth and her mother-in-law Edna Nauss, Halifax. She also leaves to mourn her sister, Nancy Avery-Easter (Fred); and brother Brian Avery (Gloria) all from Tabusintac, N.B.; her sister, Joanne Avery (Noel Brissard) from Scotland; her uncle, Arthur Johnston, many cousins, several nieces and nephews and a wonderful support group of friends.

Janice grew up in New Brunswick to age 22, worked and lived in several provinces over the years until getting married and settling in Nova Scotia twenty years ago, her province of choice that she loved deeply. She was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer six years ago, and fought a valiant fight until her death.

Janice enjoyed the challenges of recruiting gifted individuals to join the rehabilitation field. She was instrumental in opening offices across Canada for various private companies. Her most recent position was with Medavie Blue Cross.

We would like to thank all the doctors and nurses on 7A at the VG; and her Oncologist, Dr. Bruce Colwell. Family and friends have always been very important to her and she wanted to thank each and every one of them for their love and support.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 from 2-4 & 6-8pm. with the funeral service and celebration of her life to follow at the funeral home on Thursday at 2pm.
